Share Parents of Utah serves those touched by the death of a baby through pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or in the first months of life. We have been serving families in the greater Salt Lake and Utah counties for 40 years, and each year we’ll visit with upwards of 200 families. As the number of families served amasses each year, we know even more parents grieve the loss of their precious little ones.
95 of those precious babies are represented on our tree, More Precious Than Rubies. This tree holds 90 hand crafted ornaments with beaded names of 95 babies who will never hang an ornament on a tree, never open their christmas presents, never spend the holidays with their grieving parents. Having their names on this tree acknowledges this absence while inviting others to remember these lives as the precious gems that they are.
Emma Blotter, Jane Rollins, and Tiffany Lindstrom, three volunteers for Share Parents of Utah, decorated this tree in honor of their own absent babies and in honor of all the precious rubies gone too soon. As each memorial ornament was placed on the tree, names were read and tears were shed. These babies should be here and not on a tree. With longing in our hearts, Share Parents of Utah donates this tree to honor babies that are more precious than rubies and pray it brings comfort to families who have experienced loss this season and for years to come.
